Accountability Register Australia Incorporated (ABN 45 233 918 006) operates the Accountability Register AU at canadians4accountability.org. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information about visitors to our website, in compliance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles contained in Schedule 1 of that Act.

Information we collect. Limited technical information sent by your browser (IP address, user agent, referrer), aggregate analytics data collected via Plausible Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, and any information you voluntarily provide when contacting our editorial team at [email protected], including reader complaint submissions.

How we use it. We use analytics data to understand which register entries readers reach and where reading fails. We use reader correspondence to update entries and to inform new research. We do not sell or share personal information with operators, marketers or third parties for behavioural targeting.

Cookies. Essential cookies maintain session state. Analytics cookies (Plausible) aggregate page view data with IP anonymisation enabled. Preference cookies remember display choices. Non essential categories can be disabled via your browser without loss of core reading functionality.

Data retention. Analytics data is retained for twelve months. Reader correspondence with the editorial team is retained for the life of the related register entry plus three years, after which it is deleted or further anonymised.

Third party processors. Plausible Analytics as our analytics processor and Cloudflare for content delivery. Each processor is bound by its own privacy commitments. We do not authorise onward disclosure for advertising or behavioural profiling purposes.

Your rights. Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to access personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to lodge a complaint about our handling of your information.

Complaints. Privacy complaints should be directed to [email protected] in the first instance. We commit to a written response within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
